I stubbed my toe very hard. It seemed to be dislocated for it dramatically away from the toe next to it. There is also swelling and discoloration. My question is "Is there a way to determine if it is broken or only dislocated? I have realigned it and taped it to the toe next to it. Is there any point in my going to the doctor? Would they do anything different from what I have done?

Optional Information:
Female, Age: 72, Utah

Already Tried:
Taping toes together and ibuprophen 800mg

Yes Dr., I can move my toe and it is bluish black up to the instep of my foot and it is swollen in that area as well.

I appreciated your input, but you didn't tell me anything new. I had already done what you suggested, so I would like to use my $9 some other time.
