This has always started when I am asleep but today it happened while awake. I am afraid to go to sleep. Can you give me any advise. My thigh still aches from the episode thanks Jackie

Reply to Dr.D. Saha's Post: I have been dealing with this for approximately 6 years on and off. I take synthroid. Otherwise I am healthy. I came off my horse in 2005 and broke 11 bones, I have been trying since to come back to some form of fitness. I have lately been trying to ride an hour a day and get more restrictive with my diet. The only thing I noticed yesterday before the episode was severe hunger. I am way overweight there is not reason for the hunger. I had been to the barn and had ridden, I came home and had lunch. This is the first time that it has ever hit during the day. It usually strikes at night when I am asleep.

I also wanted to thank you for answering. I have tried to ask a dr about this and they just shrugged. I am greatful that you took the time to listen and answer.

Jackie

By analyzing your history it seems that there may be many factors playing important role in producing your leg cramps.

Injury and fracture bones also have an important role on it.

Leg cramps usually occurs during night but it may sometimes happen during day also.

The last daytime attack of leg cramps may be due to dehydration and over use

Sometimes vitamin and electrolyte deficiency may also cause cramps.

You can read in details about the cause and management of leg cramps in the website.
