ACHING PAIN

I have an aching pain on the left side...near my spleen, i'm on my period, and this usually doesn't happen, and if i do have pain it has ALWAYS been on the right side. It started last night about 12:30 and has not stopped all night and all day. Is it normal? Should i go to the doctor?
