I had a bee sting on my leg over a year ago. At the time it swelled up, got red and hot and was itchy. I don't think the stinger was in there, but now a year later I still have pain in the spot I was stung.

You should have it checked out by your doctor. I think it would be a coincidence that it is in the same spot. Any foreign object in the body the body will reject and therefore would push the stinger out if it were still lodge in from a year ago.

Without actually seeing it, it would be hard to say what is going on. But I very highly doubt it would be from the stinger being in there still.
