If you have had a new sexual partner.. Yes, very common. Heck as sad as it is.. My Dad 71 years old.. still gets tested each year for things just to make sure.. So so anyone who is sexually active it's best.. It can take months for things to show up. Plus with most Paps and routines they do check fro these things as well.

Hope that helps.

And if the woman isn't sexually active? Still considered routine to get tested for STD's?

If not sexually active and hasn't been since last time.. then no need to be.. but some people do prefer to make sure. Some people feel they can pick things up like this via; toilet seat, rest rooms etc.. So it can also be personal preference as well. But if technically there is no reason to, then no it's not considered routine.

Hope that helps
