Throughout my pregnancy, I've had my blood drawn several times for various tests (stds mainly) in addition to the prenatal testing. Can too many blood tests be harmful to the baby? Is it possible to have too much blood drawn?

Dear Rachel,
The amount of blood drawn for tests in insignificant compared to the total volume of blood in our body. There is no way it will harm you OR the unborn child.
Our body has approximately 5 litres (5000 ml) of blood present in it and any blood lost tends to get replaced very quickly by increased blood production in our bone marrow. Each aliquot (sample) of blood drawn generally is around (average) 10 ml which is miniscule amount as compared to the amount of blood in our body, hence please do not worry about this blood loss.
