My name is Nia I am 27 years old and I have ...

Sent to Health Experts February 20, 2006 3:33 p.m.

My name is Nia I am 27 years old and I have hypopituitarism.
I take GH injections (genotropin), 100 mcg thyroxine (levoxyl) and 10mg hydrocortisone (cortef) daily.
I have been trying to lose ten pounds for the past 2 months but all I am doing is maintaining my current weight of 100 pounds despite counting calories (I curently consume 1300 calories a day) and walking briskly for 45 minutes a day as well as doing strength training for 30 minutes a day.
I am beginning to think that perhaps my daily hydrocortisone treatment is interfering with my ability to lose weight because before I was put on this treatment at 12/13 I found it very difficult to maintain my weight and weighed about 70 pounds. As soon as I was put on the hydrocortizone I very rapidly put on weight.
Should I think about lowering my hydrocortisone?

Thanks,

Nia
