i suffer from Gram-negative folliculitis from long term antibiotic use for my acne. i'm currently on ampicillin 500 mg. it worked for a week but the problem has resurfaced. how long will this condition go away?

Hi,
Since the problem has resurfaced that is probably because the coverage of this folliculitis is not enough,possibly other than gram negative patogens are involved causing folliculitis or Gram negative organisms became resistant to Ampicillin. So you may need another culture and sensitivity test to find out if there are other patogens invoved causing folliculitis or to change the ampicillin to another antibiottic hopefully the Gram negative germs are sensitive .

thank you for your response. which other antibiotics are used to treat gram negative folliculitis? Another penicillin? what about Erythromycin which is not a tetracycline antibiotic?
