I thought I was on my period. When I pulled out my tampon, a thing fell out. It is funnel shaped. The top is about 4 in in diameter with the base about the size of a pencil. It is think, about 1/8 in. One surface is smooth and the other has uneven texture on it. What is this and what should I do about it?

I would save it, make an appointment to see the GYN and bring it in for him or her to see.

You haven't mnetioned if it was tissue or what color it is. Was there any blood?

There was very little blood. As I said, I thought I was on the first day of my period. I apologize, I thought I said it was tissue. It is. It is darker in blood color on one half and lighter color on the other half.

Relist: I still need help.
There really was no opinion given of what this could be or if it has even been heard of. I know that I should ahve a professional look at it, but I was wondering in what area I should be concerned.

I believe that Deborah was indicating the possibility that this could be some placenta. From your description of it being rough on one side and smoothe on the other, and darker on one side than the other, that would be the primary thing I would think of also. I would encourage you to see your gynecologist very soon.

So you think this might have been a miscarriage?

The description very closely fits a placenta. I do think something of that nature may have happened, yes.
