I had a ultrasound at 12 weeks to measure the back of the fetus neck to determine the risk for down syndrome. The sonographer told my husband and i she was 80 percent sure the fetus is a girl because the genital tubercle was parallel to the horizontal line and in boys the angle is usuallt greater than 30 degrees. Should i count on a female???

At this point I wouldn't go and purchase a lot of pink things, it is too early to actually tell. At 12 weeks, the genitals begin to take on their gender characteristics. One can't tell until around 20 weeks. Some are more accurate at 16 .. but 20 is generally the best time. So at this point it's more of either or.

The reason I say don't go purchase pink as of yet, is I was told the same thing Hun, and I ended up with a boy. I'm not saying the ultra sound tech is wrong, but it's not 100%

You will have another ultra sound again, which will be much more accurate in saying for sure.. If you are told a girl again, then I would say then chances are a girl.

Hope this helps.
