Hi, I have a grandmother who is 94 who has just been diagnosed with chronic renal failure...she is between 10 and 15% function. What can we expect as far as timelines? She has a DNR order in effect.

If your renal function drops below 10 to 15%, you cannot live long without some form of renal replacement therapy. So it's just a matter of days at this point. My husbands Grandmother is 92 now and although shes not into renal failure, she is in CHF, but she's hanging in there. Sounds like your Grandmother is a fighter as well. I'm sure she's being kept as comfortable as possible. Best of luck Hun.
