I have been taking Methadone for 3 years. I started on a high dose (120 mg. bid) to relieve pain from a sever Crohn's Disease flare. I started on them after being in the hospital for 4 weeks in a 2 month period. I didn't have insurance and my dr. said this is cheaper than Oxycontin. Methadone has worked for the pain but every time I am close to getting off of it (down to 2 1/2mg qd) I get a flare and end up on them again. I'm back down again and now it's been 3 years since I first started Methadone. I want to get off but the withdrawals are more than I can bear. What can I do? Especially now since I've moved (my spouse is in the military) I don't have a dr. that trusts me. They all think I'm seeking drugs when really I'm seeking to get rid of them.

Already Tried:
I've never had a drop of alcohol before, but I tried it to see if it would get rid of the withdrawals. It didn't so I won't ever drink again.
