Our son has been running a temp on and off for 6

Our son has been running a temp on and off for 6 days now. It goes as high as 103.8, but then after mortrin it is normal for a little while. No appetite, just laying around, doesn't feel like doing anything. What could this be?

just giving him motrin and letting him eat what he wants

It is a good sign that when he does take Motrin that the temp goes down. That's important. You did not mention how old your son is. Does he have any other symptoms?
