Dear dophcats,

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your question.

The main goal is not whether you are recumbent or upright, it is to keep your knees, ankle and feet in line with your spine and hips and to maintain a proper "position of Function".

A recumbent bike will help keep the spine aligned a little better, however unless you place your feet in stirrups or clips, you will have a hard time maintaining a correct position of function on the lower extremities.

In my opinion, the recumbent bike together with clips is the best combination.
