I was referred by a clinic to an emergency room for ...

I was referred by a clinic to an emergency room for procedures that were completely unnecessary. Now I owe the hospital $315.00. What can I do? This was due to an
error by the lab on a potassium test which I did not even order.

I would consider threatening them with legal action and contacting amedical malpractice lawyer, if there is no response. Do remember however that litigation will be much mor eexpensive then the cost of the tests, so if you are offered a 'compromise' consider it even if does not satisfy the principles of natural justice,
