Sent to Health Experts May 05, 2006 8:06 p.m.

My daughter has a cold sore (pimple looking bump) on her lip. But now there are some on her neck and forehead. There are more just from this morning. What could they be. I am guessing that it is not a cold sore now.

No, she has not been around anyone I know of with either chicken pox or measels. I do not think it is either. They look like pus filled pimples or little boils.

Yes. but it is only a few on her face and five or so on her neck. There is even one on her neck in the back (where her hair covers her neck).

Then it's probably just heat rash, and it should go away shortly. Tell her not to scratch if it itches. Wash her in cool water, and give her something cool to drink and she should be fine in a few hours. Young children are exspecially susceptible to the heat and will break out. I hope this answers your question. And if you have any more I'm here. Gail. Feedback is very welcome it improves my ratings. I hope this sets your mind at rest and she starts feeling better. Gail

Hello

I'm wondering if your daughter has tried a new lotion or soap recently? It could also be what is called impetigo.

Click here to see what the Mayo Clinic has to say about Impetigo.

It is also possible it could be insect bites that have become infected.

I would clean the area with antibacterial soap, and dab some antibiotic ointment on them. If they continue to spread, or appear to be getting more infected, she may have to be seen by your doctor.

Kerry

Gail,

You were right. It is chicken pox. She had more all over this morning. Surprised!

Thanks.
