Sent to Health Experts May 29, 2006 4:23 p.m.

My friend broke his pelvis yesterday in a horse accident, He did not get bucked off as you might imagine, he just slammed down into the saddle several times. He has had surgery, apparently screwed together... He is on Morphine and just slightly able to talk to me. What is his recovery going to be like, rehab, etc. When do you expect he can go home??? he is in huge pain and how long will that last? He is 47, fit and healthy. He mentioned that he has an incision from his belly button, down.... He said all his "parts" are swollen and black and blue Thanks Jen

ACCEPTED Check Mark

It is difficult to tell without a better idea of how severe the injuries were and any other injuries. Assuming he doesn't have any other serious injuries (neck, internal injuries etc) I would suspect he would be feeling fairly good in 6-12 weeks and within 3-6 months he would be "back to normal" as far as activities.

A LOT of it depends on his motivation to get better and cooperation with and effort he puts forth in rehabilitation (physical therapy)
