A short course of steroids should take care of the swelling.
There used to be something called Decaspray, but I haven't seen it in a
long time, so I'm not sure if it's still available. I would call
the doc, explain the situation. If he knows you, he could call in
a prescription for the appropriate dose. This should make a huge
difference in the swelling. He may prescribe decadron
(dexamethasone) or prednisone. Either will do the trick.
The skin will be very dry and peely once the edema goes down, for that
you can use a good quality skin cream, aloe is good, something
with vitamins A and D would be good as well.
