I have a three and a half year old nephew who gets croup ...

I have a three and a half year old nephew who gets croup very often. At least 3 times a year he is hospitalized for it and has to be on oxygen while there because he is not able to keep his oxygen level high enough. We have been told that he should have grown out of this by now. Know one seems to no why he keeps getting it.. Do you have any ideas how or why he keeps getting this.
