I have had a loss of smell and taste since the flu two months ago? There are no abnormalities in a sinus CT scan or exam. Is there any hope it will return?

There is a chance that your senses will return but we do tend to lose some of our sense of smell and taste as we grow older as well so this may not only have to do with having the flu but the normal aging process as well. If you have no abnormalities in your CT scam or exam then it is possible that it is part of your normal aging process so it is actually hard to say if it will return. The best thing that you can do is give it 3-4 months and if it does not return in that amount of time then chances are that it will not. It could have just started coinciding with the flu you had but was something that would have happened anyway. They do not really know whay we tend to lose some of our sense of smell or taste as we age but it is the same as eyesight and hearing that can grow worse as we age as well.
