I was   diagnosed with genital warts...last yr pap was normal.and for many years prior...been with this man off and on for near 7 yrs   and also occasionally with another man who was my x husband and was with him 25 yrs ...do I need to tell the bouyfriend all this ? is he at risk ?

Genital warts are caused by the HPV virus. The virus can be dormant for years, showing no symptoms. It can also go away in some cases if your immune system is strong.

The main problem with HPV and genital warts is the connection to cervical cancer. Be sure you continue to get yearly pap tests.

You can still spread the HPV virus to your boyfriend. Ethically, you should tell him, although his health risk is very low.

One in three sexually active people have the HPV virus in their blood, so it is very common. One other consideration...since HPV is a sexually transmitted disease, I would ask my health practitioner about being screened for other STD's, if they haven't already suggested it.
