sma

Hello
My child is 6 months and has a quivering tongue or fasciculation of the tongue.   He has no muscle weekness at this time and is doing what a 6 month should be doing. Does this symptom always lead to SMA?

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy), benign fasciculations of tongue are seen normally too.But in order to rule out any disease you can go in for EMG of your son.I feel it is good that no weakness has been observed, but just to be on the safe side and to gain peace of mind you can have this test after consultation with a neurologist. All the best.
