You maybe suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, this is a common cause of wrist pain. Burning pain is a possible symptom of this condition. The thumb muscle can become weak, making it difficult to grasp things. The condition may worsen if left untreated leading to pain extending up to your elbow.

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve gets compressed at the wrist because of swelling. Thsi can be due to many reasons like:

  • A repetitive motion with your wrist like typing on a computer keyboard, using a computer mouse, playing racquetball or handball, sewing, painting, writing, or using a vibrating tool.
  • Other uncommon causes include pregnancy, menopausal, overweight, diabetes, premenstrual syndrome, an underactive thyroid, or rheumatoid arthritis.
You would need to go to your physician / orthopedician for confirming the diagnosis and starting appropriate therapy including splinting, rest, avoiding the cause, and anti-inflammatory medicines..
