Thank you for the additinal information.

I am sorry you are having problems with your job interviews. The hard truth is that people DO discriminate against others because of their appearance, although many people try hard not to (and it is illegal in certain circumstances).

This does not mean that the reason you have having a hard time during job interviews is because of your weight (UNLESS your weight is related to the job you are applying for). There are many reasons why a person may not be offered a job even if they have excellent work skills.

What you can do:

1. The BEST thing you can do is to call one of the people you interviewed with after you did not get the job and ASK them (a) Why you didn't get the job and (b) If they have any tips to help you get a job elsewhere.

2. When you go in for an interview be VERY confident. If you have a hard time with this, practice interviewing with friends or family.

3. If you are concerned about your weight, you should try going on a diet and getting more exercise. Walking is a GREAT way to lose weight, but try to walk EVERY DAY for at least 45 minutes. And try to walk at a fairly fast pace if you are able. As you get into better shape, buy some hand weights and start to use them too. Eating fewer calories is key to losing weight too. Try to eliminate about 300 calories from what you eat every day (e.g., skip a bagel, don't drink regular soda but drink diet soda instead, don't snack during the day).

If you have any other questions feel free to ask - and good luck!

Thanks for the additional information.

There are some body language clues you can look for:

- If the person seems to not want to touch you or shake your hand (this can mean they are turned off by your physical body),

- If during the interview they have their arms folded across their chest (this can mean they want to keep distance from you),

- If they frequently look away from you while you are talking (this could mean they don't care about your answer, they are bored, etc.),

- If they have a hard time keeping eye contact when you are talking (this could mean they don't care about your answer, they are bored, etc.),

- If they touch their eyes or look down frequently (this could mean they are bored),

- If the person pinches the bridge of their nose (in between their eyes) or keeps their eyes closed (this could mean they are disagreeing with you)

- Sarcasm (this could mean they don't value what you have to say).

It's important to realize that these may not be signs the interviewer is uncomfortable with you - instead the interviewer may just be tired, etc. Also, the body language may be them reacting to something other than your weight - for example, you may not be giving an interesting answer to a question making them bored.

Practice your interviewing techniques with a friend or family member and remember to always go into an interview full of confidence!
