Hello,

It means that there may be cells present that could be considered precancerous. It can also mean that it is unclear if the cells are precancercous, but have early changes. It means your GYN may take the "eaite and see" approach, having you repeat the pap smear in another three to six months, or suggest a procedure to freeze these cells to destroy them.
