High potassium levels, Hyperkalemia, has a few known causes. These include:
- Medications, such as certain inhibitors
- Addison's disease (Hormone deficiency)
- Severe injury
- Burns
- And, of course, excessive amounts of potassium intake
Also, please make sure that a second blood sample is done to ensure accuracy of the first. Often, the sample is damaged ruptured cells in the sample. This can give false readings.
