my sister in law just had a 10 pound full term baby boy 2 ...

my sister in law just had a 10 pound full term baby boy 2 days ago. When he was born he had low blood sugar.They informed her today the baby still has low blood sugar and would not beable to go home and is now in the NICU what could have caused this situations? I thought if your baby was premature and low weight you had a risk of this.
