Constipated 5 year old

Sent to Health Experts August 13 11:11 PM

My 5 year old daughter has not had a bowel movement in a couple of days and is complaining of stomach pain tonight. As an infant we would, once in a great while, have to give here an enema. I tried tonight and she would not even pass the water I put in her. Suggestions??

Try lubricating her anal opening with some KY or vaseline. A glycerin suppository may help as well. If not you will have to have her seen in the morning as she may need manual removal.

I wouldn't go that route until you get an okay from a doctor. A bit of prune juice or prunes might do the trick. Also make sure she is drinking lots of fluids.
