Hi

Is it a cerebral AVM?

Yes, it is a cerebral avm which would be to dangerous to operate on hense the embolisation. It was quite a bad bleed in November 2005 which has left me with problems with my sight. The haemorrhage inside my head came from a small arterio venus malformation. This would almost certainly have to be followed up by radiotherapy.

Hi

Embolisation has really become the treatment of choice for even very large AVM's.

Complication rates are low

Bleeding at wound site
Infection at wound site

But generally it is very safe and if you are a suitable patient very effective at preventing bleeds.

It can also be used to reduce the size of AVMs prior to radiotherapy.

Radioterapy takes 1-3 years to work - embolisation.

Hope this helps a bit.
