Will try the benadryl and repond again later. to its affects. But you and I both know that sitting in a hospital waiting room for 6 hours is not going to happen...

I went online to a gaming site (POGO) and asked the ladies there if any of them had run into this before and the reply I got was that the veg oil only holds in the heat and reactivates the pepper oil and to use white viniger which did have a cooling affect on my hands. But is best used right after working with the peppers. thought you would like to know. Will reply again in the morning as to wether the benadryl worked or not.

Well the benadryl did not work at all. I was up until 5am holding on to 2 ziplock bags of ice, until I finally fell asleep. There is still a tingle in my hands as I am typing this but nothing like yesterday. Lesson learned never use bare hands when dealing with red chilly peppers.

there was nothing that you had given me to relief and pain from the red chilly pepper oil. In fact the veg oil suggestion only made things worse. so I will not be accepting your answers. Sorry but thats how I feel about this whole matter.

Hello, I thought I would put my two cents in.
Wash your hands with milk. My Grandfather had a huge garden and grew various varieties of hot peppers. All the women in the family would get together and can the vegetables. When handling the hot peppers, they would use milk to relieve the burning. Their hands became irriated when cutting them prior to cooking. One of the things they made was a spicy olive oil which contained hot peppers and garlic.
Milk is also effective when your your mouth burns from these peppers or the oils as well.
Give it a try.

I did wash with milk, cream, cottage cheese, yogart the whole ball of wax and even the veg oil that I was told to do ,, but that only reactivatied the pepper oil . I was up til 5 am holding on to bags of ice. so I did not get any relief from any of the suggestion I was given.. hands are not burning any more from the pepper oil, only learned that the next time I will use gloves..
