I stepped on a nail yesterday, it went through the fleshy portion of my big toe. It only bled a drop. It did not hurt at the time and other than being a little sore it looks fine. The nail was not rusty. I cleaned the wound and am treating it with an antibiotic ointment. Do I still need to get a tetanus shot???

Generally speaking tetanus shots are only indicated for contaminated wounds.

If it were me though I'd get the shot, indeed when I sat on a nail 2 yrs ago that is exactly what I did.
