My 4 year-old daughter has what looks like cradle cap ...

My 4 year-old daughter has what looks like cradle cap on one area of her scalp. When she was younger, I used baby oil and combed it off, but it never really has gone away. What else might it be and what can I do to get rid of it?

It is likely that it is still cradle cap. My 5 year old had it as well... It just means that you need to really scrub their scalp when you shampoo. It is much harder to get off a child than it was a baby because their hair is longer.    You can just work at it a little at a time. Each time you shampoo, focus on one small area and use your nails or a comb to really work at it. There will be a lot of gunk in her hair then, but just keep rinsing and washing until you get it out of her hair. It may take several washes to get it all out. Once you have it out you can just try and remember to really scrub her scalp with your nails when you shampoo her hair. That should keep it from building up again.
