Hello,

Wulong Tea, or Oolong as it is more commonly known in the West was most recently thrust into the spotlight again because of an Oprah Winfrey mention., but it's been around for years.

The “oolong tea” diet in which you drink five or six cups of oolong a day and its diuretic effect creates the illusion that you are shedding real pounds, but it's only water weight not fat. So, it's not permaneny weight loss. Addditionally, as it is considered a diuretic, it can be dehydrating if you do not drink enough water during the day.

Reply to Deborah's Post: Am not looking to use the Wulong diet. So you are saying it has no fat loss effect.

Absolutely no effect on permanent weight loss which would be due to burning fat.

The benefit of drinking this tea is antioxidants.

My husband is British and we live close to San Franciso. He enjoys a good cup of tea and purchases Wulong and other types of tea when we visit Chinatown.

He seems to think it is worth paying for good tea from a reputable tea shop. He does not buy bags, he buys tea leaves and brews it the traditional way.

My question is how do you know what quality is in the bags? What brand is it and where will you buy it from? It could be an over-inflated price for a so-so tea.
