Numbness happens when nerve impulses aren't traveling properly from the skin to the brain. During a car accident there is excessive force placed on structures between the peripheral nervous system and the central nervous system and the brain. This excessive force causes inflammation around nerves (swelling) which is the body's natural way of attempting to heal itself from the trauma; however the swelling around the nerves causes impaired conduction of sensory nerve fibers from the peripheral nervous system to the brain similar to a nerve block given for anesthesia. Usually, the swelling and nerve compression resolves with rest and Motrin within a couple of weeks. Since the numbness is getting worse after 2 weeks, then I recommend that you be examined by a neurologist who will order an MRI to locate the precise areas where you have nerve problems.
