what can cause the back of my thigh to have burning and or numbing sensations?

Hello,

Burning and numb sensations of the back of the thigh can e due to :

A. Compression or inflammation of the sciatic nerve.

B. Inflammation of a muscle called the Pyriformis situated behind the thigh just below the buttocks. It occurs more commonly if you have been sitting for a long time, especially while driving long distances.
