Question

my 28 month old son has gotten a small cut near

Sent to Health Experts October 12, 2006 1:21 p.m.

my 28 month old son has gotten a small cut near the top of the penis and it appears a peice of cartilage sticking out. I thought it was a skin tag but it appears not to be. I have an appointment for him to go in on monday. Can you give me any insight as what to expect. There are no urologists in Fairbanks so they said I may have to take him to Anchorage.

Optional Information:
Male , Age: 28 months

Already Tried:
took him in for an initial appointment and they referred us back to a doctor on monday.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy),

It sounds like "the piece sticking out" may be either: the fibrous ring between glans & shaft of penis; or possibly small strip of muscle tissue (hard to say exactly without a VISUAL exam though).

Monday is 4 days away--in my opinion that is TOO delayed; I advise you take him to nearest major hospital (should have a Urologist on call they can call in), or get him in too saa a Pvt Urologist either today or tomorrow; a penile lesion like this is NOT something you want to wait 4-5 days to treat.

Hope this helps!

Best, -Dr. Steve
