Yes, the vaginal changes can occur due to low estrogen levels as a result of menopause. Low estrogen levels cause many changes in the vagina and other genital tissues. These tissues become thinner, drier and less elastic. These changes are known as vaginal atrophy. Estrogen deficiency (low estrogen) is the primary cause.
