Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy)-

What sort of soap/shampoo do you use? Is it something that you switched to in the past year? Also, do you frequently wear non-cotton fabrics?

Thanks,
Emily

Thanks for the information.

The first thing you should do is switch to soap/shampoo that is designed for sensitive skin. An excellent choice is Cetaphil - it is available at most drugstores. While it costs a bit more than regular products, try it for a few weeks and see if you notice a difference.

The next thing you should do is to eliminate synthetic fibers (and wool) from your wardrobe. No need to toss them, but try sticking to only cotton or linen fabrics for a week or so. Ideally this will help your skin, as many people with sensitive skin react badly to artificial fibers.

You should also call your doctor. Most likely he/she will refer you to a dermatologist. While you are most likely dealing with dry/sensitive skin, it is possible you may also have a skin condition that can be diagnosed and treated with a prescription medication.

In the meantime, continue to use moisturizers daily and as needed. An excellent option is Lubriderm.

Sincerely,
Emily
