Hair dye reactions

My wife had here hair dyed on Thursday and is now having some major reactions. Her scalp is irritated with little sores that are like leaking puss.   The side of her face is now swelling.   She went the the emergency room this morning and they gave her some Antibotic's and some pain releaver.   what can be done to prevent the swelling of her face?
