I think you have to get a second opinion from another orthopedist, and preferably one who specializes in total joint replacements. If you can audibly hear the knee making noise, and it feels terribly unstable, and your surgeon says everything is as it should be, I think you could benefit from a second opinion. Nearing 4 months post-operatively, you are probably using the joint, and you have probably completed a fair amount of physical therapy and rehab, so I would think that it would be a little unusual for your new joint to still be so unstable at this point in time. Better to see a second orthopedist, and have them evaluate this in person, and get their opinion on whether or not this is a normal post-operative course. Sometimes it can be hard for a physician to accept the limitations of his (or her) own work.
