Question

Deaperate new mom

Sent to Health Experts July 11, 2006 8:41 p.m.

June 13 I went into labor with my son. This is my first pregnency and I was induced that day because he measured big. I pushed for three hours and then was moved to c-section because he was not moving anymore. His head was lodged so far in the birthing canal that when they opened me up they had to have him puished back to get him out. While i was in the hospital during that stay the physicians that did the surgery had me get an x-ray of some sorts to see if they had hit my ureters or something like that thay said they feared it because he was so far up the canal. They told me that nothing came of that and that i was fine. I was sent home three days later and in a ton of pain. Being my first time I had no idea whether i was supposed to be in the pain i was or not they kept telling me it was normal. I couldnt walk with out being huntched over and was on a ton of medication for pain. When they sent me home i was still in a ton of pain. They7 sent me home with a motrin prescription. In the hospital and when I went home I had extreme swelling from my stomach down so extreme that i couldnt even fit the maternity clothes I came in. They said this was normal too because of the surgery and my IV's. I went home and a week later I was back in the hospital because when I was sleeping I woke myself because I quit breathing and had chest pains. We called the surgery physicians and they made an appointment for me to come in later that day. when I called another doctor she told me to go to the er right away. we went and they found blood clots in my lungs. I was put on lovinox and re-addmitted. while in their that stay I continuously complained of pain and I probably had three or four doctors looking at me and my incision every day. My white blood count was going up and I was running a constant temp. of about 99.5 or so. My nurse started to question my wanting pain relief around the clock and looked at my incision once and knew it was infected. She called the doctors that had been seeing me the whole time and told them. They came in opened a little hole and it exploded. Also while during that stay they found out my hemoglobin was a 7 and then eventually moved to an 8.2, wich is what I am at now. So during this stay I was treated for pulmonary embilisom, my hemoglobin being so low and then when they found it my infection. I was on blood thinners(lovinox and then cumidin), Iron for my low hemoglobin, and antibiotics for my infection. Also I was taking 600mg motrin and tylenol. Now I am home and it is four weeks post OP and I am still in pain to where I still have to take motrin. My incision is still sore to touch, I have discharge that looks like the infection did comming out of my vagina, I am in pain while I gho to the bathroom( Not a urinary tract infection pain but up where my uterus is inside me). I am still having shooting pains thoughout the incision site. My doctors keep telling me I am going to getting better and the pain is too but so far it is about the same and doesnt seem to be getting better. I am sort of looking for a second opinion on everything I am just wondering what someone else might have to say too.

Hello,

You answered your own question. I would seriously get a second opinion from another GYN. It sounds as if you have an infection. I would suggest that you get a CT scan and have a vaginal culture done as well. You may need an additional course of antibiotics. You shouldn't be feeling so bad at this point.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
