I still have a sinus infection which began 12/15/06, was treated with Amoxicillan, followed by Augmenten, neither of which helped.

Hello,

Anosmia is the lack of olfaction, or a loss of the ability to smell. It can be either temporary or permanent. A related term, hyposmia, refers to a decrease in the ability to smell. Anosmia can also be caused by nasal polyps. These polyps are found in people with allergies, histories on sinusitis .

Usually anosmia due to sinusitis is usually temporary .

Probably you need a thorough ENT examination , blood work and CT scan / X-ray of PNS for further evaluation . Some cases of sinusitis may need surgical intervension .

In the mean time you can take steam twice a day . Saline gargles .Honey , herbal tea etc along with usual medications .
