I've had trouble sleeping for years, sometimes I'll see a bright light before I go to sleep, and sometimes I'll be woken up by a strong smell from a dream that will stay with me for a few minutes, or sometimes for the rest of the day.

Here is a fairly comprehensive overview of sleep disturbances -- and possible causes.

Seeing a bright light that actually awakens you -- and having odors that outlast your dreams -- are both symptoms that could suggest a neurological disorder.

I recommend that you consider having a work-up done at the Poudre Valley Hospital -- Regional Neuroscience a Center -- and which includes a Sleep Disorders Diagnostic Laboratory.

You may need to be referred by your Primary-care Physician. A quick telephone call to the -- Poudre Valley Hospital (Main Number): (970) 495-7000 -- should answer that question for you.

The Neuro Lab is located at Mountain Crest, 4601 Corbett Drive, Fort Collins.

Let me know if you need more input. If not, thanks for the opportunity to assist you... Please honor my efforts by pushing the green 'Accept' button (located within this post -- above-right). Adding a bonus -- should you wish to do so -- would be warmly welcomed.

Good Luck!

Steve
