I am a 34 year old woman, every month before i start to menustrate i start burning on the vaginal area like the burning of a kidney or bladder infection, when I do start the first day or two feels the same way then it goes away. It's more and more uncomfortable.I have consulted my physician several times about it.I have also saught different doctors opinions about it but can't get a straight answer about it.Could some one help me out here,of what it is or might be and how to treat it.I am a female truck driver so I don't have the time to run all over town looking for answers. Thankyou for your time,Brooke

Hi Brooke! I'm a little surprised your Drs couldn't figure this out. What you are experiencing is called Vulvovaginitis. Unless you have gone to a female Ob/gyn. it may not be something they know alot about. I AM not putting down male Drs. I was married to an Ob/gyn. But unless a man has had the burning itch of a yeast infection, they can not be very sympathetic. What happen is this. There is typically a normal discharge that occurs in rsponse to our hormone levels. The least being after out period has finished. However, in some women, the Estrogen/progestrogen levels can increase a little more and at the end of the cycle the body produces more of the fertile mucus. Sometimes YOUR body reacts to this discharge and you get a redness, itch, burning at the opening of the vagina. This will usually pass after your period begins. Now, heres the rub, as a truck driver, you have an additonal problem. You sit, if you are over weight, and spend long periods not moving, the area becomes a breeding ground and it gets worse. So this is what you can do. Bathe, with lots of mild soap. Pat dry. Use a non perfumed baby powder. Put a bottle of baby powder in the truck. Use it. Wear loose clothing, if it was me I would be in scrubs. Cotton undies and try not to trap the mositure that creates the problem.. sleep in el natural and that should help. Use baby powder..outside only! Good luck!
