My son was born prematurely-36 wks. He weighed 5lbs. and 8

My son was born prematurely-36 wks. He weighed 5lbs. and 8 ounces. When he went for his one month checkup, he weighed 8lbs., and some ounces. I took him for his two month checkup last week and he weighed 16lbs. My doctor said that he was overweight for his age, and that I need to start feeding him every four hours. If he gets hungry before then to feed him water. I consulted another doctor and she said that how much he should weigh depends on his height, not his age. He is about 23 inches long.    I should note, that I started feeding him less than a teaspoon of rice cereal in his bottle at four weeks, because he wasn't keeping my breastmilk,( which he is feed the majority of the time) or the formula down, and he was constantly hungry. So, I put in a little to thicken it up, only at night, but not to make him sleep because it didn't change his sleeping pattern. I say that because I've read that some people use it to make the child sleep. Can you tell me which is right? Does his weight depend on age or length, male or female, and is my baby really overweight?
