grandson sleeping 16 to20 hours a day at age 7

my 7 year old grandson bangs his head and kicks his feet while asleep all night every night but does not do it during the day when he falls asleep. He also has been falling asleep at school at least three times per week and sleeping for 3 to 4 hour and often comming home and sleeping 3 to 4 hours then being forced to wake up for dinner he sits through dinner in a zombie state and forced to eat some of his dinner before he goes back to sleep. If we try to keep him awake he will just lay down on the sidewalk or lawn or lean against a wall and sleep. He is on Depakote, Strattera, andTennex he has been on these meds. for a long time. He was tested at two different hospitals here for seizures both said he's having seizures, but then he was tested at U.C. Davis and they said he shows no signs of brain damage?????? We have talked to a couple of Doctors and they are all baffeled by my grandsons behavior and don't know what to do. The doctors all say this is serious. Just recently did we find out how often he was sleeping at school when I ask his teacher to keep a log for me so I could see what was going on and it shocked me due to the amount of time he comes home and falls asleep in the car during the two minute ride home from school. I have custody of my grandson and his three brothers who are 10, 8 and 4. Their mother used drugs while pregnant ... she also abused prescription drugs, vicodin codiene valium somas as well as methamphetamine, mushrooms and alchol any suggestions on what cold be wrong or what type of test schould be ran to lead towards some answers??? Any help would be greatly welcomed thank you just for taking the time to read this and God bless you.
