I woke up this morning feeling like I had been out drinking ...

Sent to Health Experts July 05, 2006 11:48 p.m.

I woke up this morning feeling like I had been out drinking the night before, only I wasn't. Like I was hungover. Lightheaded, a little nautious, a little bit of a headache. The headache felt like the headache you get with a hangover.   I didn't have anything to drink the night before. Do you know what might have caused this?

Hello

Half of a hangover it lack of sleep and dehydration. If you were out late last night, and got very little sleep, this may be the only reason.

If you still feel that way after fluids and a good nights sleep, you may have a virus or another infection.

I share Kerry's take on this. The majority of hangover symptoms, including headache, are caused by dehydration. Keep in mind that dehydration often happens without/before any feeling of thirst.

As for a possible viral cause, my vote would be gastroenteritis a.k.a. 'stomach flu'. Either way, the 'cure' is the same: rest, foods -- and over-the-counter pain reliever (such as Tylenol) as needed.
