This morning I woke up unable to breath right. I was gasping for air, like I had just come out of the water from being down there a long time. It only lasted for a couple of seconds, but it scared me. I don't know if I had a dream or not.

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

Even though you were able to breathe again within a couple seconds, you may have experienced an episode of sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder where you temporarily stop breathing in your sleep. It's possible you were just coming out of a dream, but I would still mention this to your doctor. To diagnose sleep apnea, your doctor may have you wear a special monitor to sleep with to detect if you stop breathing. If you have a sleep partner, you may want to see if they have noticed any abnormal breathing patterns before.

Chances are this was just a one-time fluke, but better safe than sorry....mention it to your doctor at your next visit unless you find this reoccurring.
