Hello,
You are suffering from a condition called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). It is usually quite harmless.
It occurs when small pieces of calcium float in the fluid in the inner ear. The movement of this fluid is an important component of maintaining balance of the body. When these calcium pieces strike against the walls of the ear, the symptoms that you have complained of can be stimulated.
BPPV - causes and treatment - is described beautifully in the following website:
- http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/bppv/bppv.html
I hope this helps.
