Hello,Post Cervical fusion c5-6 2003 and c6-7 2004
I appreciate any information I can get, approx 4 weeks ago helping to stack firewood noted pain in lower back afterward, sore and stiff thought I overworked. I am active work out at the gym and have active lifestyle. Had noted some momentary weakness of legs prior to this event for about 3 or 4 months at times, but ignored Treated with heat and Anti inflammatories.
Pain continued to intensify in low back right above buttocks on right side, moving into hip also shooting pain outside area of right knee, no pain below knee tingling in foot across toes, burning bottom of foot. Pain continued to worsen ok in morning when first arising but after a little while painful to sit or stand for anylength, upon rising from seated position of time extreme pain when bending over or raising legs, coughing causes pain, became constipated frequent urination.
Now syptoms are continuing but tingling now also occuring in bottom of both arms and hands. Saw Primary Care a week ago took xray (they reportnormal) put on above medications, no relief except dont like the way the muscle relaxer makes me feel does allow sleep however.Mri Done 3 Days ago after which received a cortisone injection in butt on slight relief from that if any, primary care nurse (Doctor Gone for week) Called and said preliminary report on MRI of Lower Spine is Normal. I have appt with Neurologist in 1 1/2 weeks. Husband having cardiac ablation next week difficult for me to drive or sit. I had suspected maybe herniation of lower lumbar disc, am now confused and frustrated by preliminary report on MRI stating normal, I know Im not imagining this pain and tingling. Why would Mri show normal? Why pain lower back and hip if no disc herniation? Why would tingling be occuring in arms and hands when pain and sciatica in lower back right Leg? I am scared and now have to wait to see Neuro. Could any of this be related to two cervical fusions. Last MRI of neck reported c5-6 osteophyte formation, but had an nerve conduction test after that which showed normal as well. Please help!!I am worried, Neurologist has moved to a new facility and is capable of neural scan and ct, would that show anything that mri didnt, I thought mri was gold standard. Is it still possible to have disc problem even though not showing on MRI?? Thanks in advance.
